New Land for Polestar!

—November 2006—

Clearing LandDear Friends,
We are happy to announce exciting new developments at Polestar on the Big Island! If all goes well, we will close escrow soon on 20 acres of beautiful farm and forest land here. This is the property we have dreamed of since Polestar began almost 7 years ago! It has ample room for housing, community buildings, orchards, and gardening. “Polestar Gardens” as we now call it, with it’s ocean views and ideal location offers us the opportunity to develop the community, educational and agricultural center we have always envisioned. The deep soil there (a rarity on this side of the island) will amply support the extensive permaculture gardens we’re planning for. Already we have avocados (some weighing up to 5 pounds each!) bananas, coconuts and guava trees and with the continuous growing season here, can grow almost anything else in a relatively short period of time.

The point of all this, as ever, is to live and share our ideals of “Spirit, Community, and Life-long Learning”. We are calling all those who resonate with these values to participate in the creation of this vision now! And there are countless ways to get involved! Join us for a program or for a personal vacation / retreat and come and see for yourself what we are up to. Participate in the 2007 work trade program which will begin this spring and run through the fall. (We hope to complete “phase one” of the project this coming year: the initial buildings, site work, and plantings which will enable us to move in by the holidays. If you have skills in building or gardening and would love to visit this island paradise, please give us a call.) We are especially in need of investors and have several ways to participate financially from full-fledged owners to time share or “lease / hold” options. We have retained legal council and are offering a safe, fair, and likely financially rewarding opportunity to invest in this venture. Please call us for more details!

This summer marks the 10th anniversary of our “Skills for Living” Internship Program and we are celebrating! Our 10 day July program will be followed by a one week “Internship Re-union” and all those who have ever participated in any of our Polestar programs are invited to join us. It will feature many of the of the classes, adventures, and fun of years past along with an emphasis on renewing old friendships and discovering new ones. In this very significant time for us in starting our new land venture, we sincerely hope you can join us!

Paul and Kasandra Green and myself are coming to Northern CA. this week and would like to catch up with as many of our friends as possible. We’ll be in Santa Rose from Nov. 11-14th and Nevada County from the 14th- 18th; give a call

Aloha to all our dear family and friends and please keep in touch!
